Dry Steam Sanitizing Benefits

Privacy Curtains and Infection Control

A study published in the American Journal of Infection Control found a high percentage of privacy curtains in hospitals can pose a threat to patient safety because they frequently test positive for methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus. Even after they are freshly laundered, curtains in patient care areas become increasingly contaminated over time – in as little as two weeks – through frequent touching.

Research shows that proper, consistent cleaning of privacy curtains and other contact surfaces and furnishings in medical facilities can help prevent the spread of MRSA, C. Difficile, and other harmful organisms.

Dry steam vapor

Dry steam vapor is a term used to describe steam created by heating water to temperatures far above 320 degrees Fahrenheit. It is a natural solvent with incredible cleaning and sanitizing properties and many other benefits, such as:

  • Produces very little moisture for quick drying of surfaces
  • Dramatically reduces the use of harsh cleaning chemicals for a healthier, safer indoor environment
  • Quickly and effectively removes dirt and grime
  • Instantly kills bacteria and harmful organisms, including Clostridium difficile, vancomycin-resistant enterococci, methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus, and more
  • Improves infection control for a safer environment for patients and health care team members

Wolverine Medical Sanitizing’s specialized process uses pressurized dry steam vapor to remove dirt, grime and harmful bacteria in the crevices of stretchers, OR tables, surgical chairs, wheelchairs, and other patient furnishings or equipment that cannot be reached with traditional cleaning methods.

Our dry vapor equipment also allows us to clean privacy curtains and their hooks and tracks in place, saving cost, and staff time, preventing curtain shrinkage, and maintaining fire retardancy.

We redefine clean in the health care environment!
